Midir and Etain

Midir is the king of the irish faeries, and Etain was once his beloved wife, but after a witch grew jealous of the maid's beauty and fortune for having the faerie king as her husband, she turns Etain into a fly. But the fly lands in the cup of a noble woman of the King of Ireland's Court. When the woman drinks the wine, she drinks the fly ( Etain ), and becomes pregnant, giving birth to Etain in human form. Etain has such beauty that she wins the heart of the king of Ireland, and he makes her his wife. But all the while, Midir is searching for her, and in the end, is able to woo her back.

I drew this for the Oklahoma State Championships and Feis... that is Irish Dance competition. I got second place next some lady whose grandma made a quilt... she didn;t even make it herself....
